  • Can I request for other car models?
    If the car model you want is not available in our BETTER store, you can request for a quotation via the Better App and we will work out a deal for you. Alternatively, you may want to talk to our concierge via live chat to find out more.
  • How can I drive a Better car?
    That’s easy. Just download the BETTER app. Choose your car then pick a rental plan that's better for you and finally submit your booking via the BETTER App. Our concierge will contact you with what to do next via the Better App Chat. Note that a $30 processing fee will be charged.
  • How do I make payments?
    You need to have either a visa or master debit or credit card to enable you to make payments via the BETTER App. We will send you an electronic receipt to your registered email address for all payments.
  • Do I get charged for any damages to a Better car?
    It depends on the type of damage. We suggest that you study our fair wear & tear policy to find out. When returning a Better car, a comprehensive inspection will be done and you will receive estimates of the fair wear & tear repairs costs.
  • who is responsible to pay for traffic offence summons?
    Renters are advised to adhere to road traffic regulations. Please take note that the renter is responsible to pay for all road traffic summons.
  • What is included in my maintenance program?
    Preventative maintenance schedule (PMS) as recommended by the car manufacturer is included as part of your standard rental plan. This includes engine oil change, oil filter, parts and labour. The maintenance interval may vary, either every 5,000 km or 10,000 km, depending on car model.
  • Is insurance and road-tax included in my rental plan?
    Of course. Comprehensive first-party vehicle insurance and road-tax is included as part of your standard rental package. However, this insurance is only valid for driving in Brunei Darussalam.
  • Can I use BETTER Car for commercial activities?
    Depends on your rental type. If your rental is for private use only, then you are not allowed to carry out commercial activities with a BETTER car.
  • Can I pre-terminate my rental plan?
    The minimum period for long-term personal rental plan is six (6) months. If you plan to pre-terminate after six months, you must provide one-month notice to BETTER or pay one month rental in lieu of notice. Your rental rate will be adjusted to correspond to the applicable rental rate for the period you actually used the car.
  • Can I drive a BETTER Car outside of Brunei?
    You may drive to either Sabah or Sarawak only but you must submit a request seven days before travelling via the BETTER App. You must also purchase extra insurance coverage. This is because the standard BETTER Car insurance is only valid for driving in Brunei.
  • What happen if I exceeded my monthly mileage quota?
    The excess mileage will be charged according to the rate stated in your rental contract plan.
  • What are my options when my rental contract expires?
    You have three options;- (i) return the car and walk away; (ii) return the car and rent another one; or (iii) extend the rental plan at lower price.

  • Can I request for other car models?

  • What is the difference between short-term and long-term car rental?
    Short-term car rental starts from one day up to six months with unlimited mileage. Long-term car rental starts from one year up to four years with different mileage plans available. The longer the contract, the cheaper the rental rate is.

    Getting a Better Car

  • How can I drive a Better car?
    That’s easy. Just download the BETTER app. Choose your car then pick a rental plan that's better for you and finally submit your booking via the BETTER App. Our concierge will contact you with what to do next via the Better App Chat. Note that a $30 processing fee will be charged.
  • What do you need?
    Unlike a loan, we don’t need your bank statements or pay slips. Simply register yourself in the Better App and upload your photos of your IC and driving license. Thats it!
  • What is the refundable security deposit for?
    Car rental is not a car loan therefore we don’t do credit vetting. But like other car rental companies, we need security deposits to guarantee that you will take care of our cars. We will refund your security deposit, less outstanding charges.
  • How much is the refundable security deposits?
    It depends on your car model, but it is generally three months of your rental payment. You can find out the refundable security deposit in the BETTER App.
  • Do you need me to assign my salary?
    Since this is not a car loan, we don’t need any assignment of salary. However, we do need either a master or visa, debit or credit cards for payments.
  • Do I have to go to the BETTER office to collect my rental contract?
    We will email you the rental contract upon confirmation of your rental. You may take your time to read and go through the contract before signing. If you have any questions, please use the live chat to ask our concierge. We will collect the signed rental plan during the delivery of your BETTER car.
  • Where can I pick up Better car?
    You can pick up Better car from our office at the Scouts Headquarters building. Alternatively, you can make arrangements for us to deliver it to you for a fee. Live chat with our concierge to make this personalised arrangement.

    Payment

  • How do I make payments?
    You need to have either a visa or master debit or credit card to enable you to make payments via the BETTER App. We will send you an electronic receipt to your registered email address for all payments.
  • What if my debit or credit card is decline / maxed?
    We would advise you to provide an alternative debit or credit card or notify us of an alternative payment solution. Please talk to our concierge via the Better App to make arrangements.
  • What if I cannot afford to pay for Better car?
    We have several options for you. You can either downgrade to a lower mileage plan, which will reduce the monthly rental you have to pay, or you can downgrade to a less premium car, or you can simply return the car to us.
  • Do you charge late charges?
    Yes, we charge 2% per month for all late payments. All proceeds will be donated to charity.

    Vehicle Damage

  • Do I get charged for any damages to a Better car?

  • What do I do in case my car id involved in an accident?
    Our primary concern is your safety. However, in case you are involved in an accident, please immediately lodge a police report and notify our concierge service via Live Chat. We will assist you to claim for the insurance. Service fees will be charged depending on the complexity of the claim. Please note delays in reporting accidents will complicate the insurance claims process and you may end up paying for the damage yourself.
  • What if my rental car is stolen?

  • Who should I call if I need road side assistance?
    Road side assistance is included in your rental package. You can call +000 000 0000 the 24-Hours emergency contact number. This number can also be found in your BETTER App.

    Traffic Offences

    BETTER continually monitors vehicle mileage and a notification will be sent to renters when the maintenance service cycle is due. You can submit your maintenance request via BETTER App. Our concierge service will contact you via live chat to make the arrangement.
  • Can I request BETTER to pick up my care for maintenance service?
    Yes you certainly can. Simply make an on-demand request via the BETTER App. Please take note that pick-up and delivery service charge will be applicable depending on the distance. Our concierge service will contact you via live chat to confirm.
  • What is not included in car maintenance?
    Defects arising from prolonged delay to perform preventative maintenance services, misfuelling, customer error or customer induced faults, abuse items, cracked glass or windscreens, accident damage, missing or broken items, vandalised or stolen wheels or tyres and punctured tyres will not be covered. The repair costs will be borne by the renter.
  • Is tyre and battery replacement included in my rental plan?
    Certainly. We will be happy replace all four tyres and your battery at every 30,000 km intervals. In case you need replacement before the 30,000 km, additional charges will apply. Of course, we will advice you in advance of any additional charges to get your agreement.
  • How about brake pad replacement?
    As part of your contract, we will replace your brake pads every 40,000 km intervals. If the brake pads needs replacement before the 40,000 intervals, additional charges will apply.

    Insurance & Road Tax

  • Is insurance and road-tax included in my rental plan?
    Of course. Comprehensive first-party vehicle insurance and road-tax is included as part of your standard rental package. However, this insurance is only valid for driving in Brunei Darussalam.
  • Where do I collect the annual road tax sticker?
    You will receive a notification via the BETTER App. You can either collect the road-tax sticker from BETTER office or request that it be delivered to you. Delivery fee will depend on the distance.
  • Can I purchase additional insurance coverage?
    It is highly recommended that you subscribe to the additional insurance coverage plan from BETTER App. These include windscreen and window protection, flood and special perils protection, passenger liability insurance and excess buy back.

    Usage

  • Can I use BETTER Car for commercial activities ?
    Depends on your rental type. If your rental is for private use only, then you are not allowed to carry out commercial activities with a BETTER car.
  • Can I rent out BETTER Car to others?
    No. A BETTER Car is not to be rented out to others and the renter is responsible for its safekeeping.
  • Can I give permission to my family member to drive my BETTER car?
    Yes, provided that you have registered their names as your authorised driver through the BETTER App. This is important in order to protect you in case of an accident and for insurance claims purposes.

    Pre-Termination

  • Can I pre-terminate my rental plan?
    The minimum period for long-term personal rental plan is six (6) months. If you plan to pre-terminate after six months, you must provide one-month notice to BETTER or pay one month rental in lieu of notice. Your rental rate will be adjusted to correspond to the applicable rental rate for the period you actually used the car.
  • Are there any penalties for pre-termination?
    For long-term personal rental plan, assuming you have used the car for more than six months and you do provide one month notice to BETTER, you will only be charged based on your usage with adjustment for the applicable rental rate.
  • What if I pre-terminate before six months?
    You will be liable to pay BETTER a minimum of six months rental less the period you actually driven the car.
  • How do I pre-terminate my rental plan?
    You may pre-terminate by submitting your request via the BETTER App. Our concierge service will contact you via live chat to make the necessary arrangements.

    Driving Outside of Brunei

  • Can I drive a BETTER Car outside of Brunei?

    You may carry forward any un-utilised mileage quota indefinitely for the duration of your rental contract.

    Mileage bundle plan allows you to purchase additional mileage quota through BETTER App for either 500 km or 1,000 km at a discounted price. Your un-utilised mileage bundle may be carried forward indefinitely throughout your contract.
  • Can I change my mileage plan?
    Yes, you may change your mileage plan at any time according to your individual needs. Change request to your mileage plan will become effective in the following month. Take note that an administration fee of $30 will be charged per request.

    End of Contract Options

  • What are my options when my rental contract expires?
    You have three options;- (i) return the car and walk away; (ii) return the car and rent another one; or (iii) extend the rental plan at lower price.
  • Can I purchase the car?
    You may request for a quote from BETTER to purchase the car. Take note that you are not obligated to purchase the car
  • Should I self-assess my fair wear and tear damage liability?
    It is advisable for you to assess the amount of chargeable damage(s) to a BETTER car, three months before returning the car to BETTER. You have the option to either repair the damages yourself or request BETTER to perform the repairs with the cost charged back to you inclusive of a 5% administration fee.
  • How do I return the car to BETTER?
    Three months prior to the expiry date of your rental, you will receive a notification from BETTER. You will be contacted by the BETTER concierge service via Live Chat to make the necessary arrangements. You can also request for a car pick-up service, for a fee. The charges will depend on the distance.
